SRS Group design modular systems for suspending and attaching green walls to building substrates. These can be achieved both internally and externally.
A green wall, also referred to as ‘living walls,’ or ‘vertical gardens,’ is the term coined to describe a fully planted and self-sufficient vertical garden. Green walls are attached to external walls or building façades, or an internal wall or divider and are suspended from, and root within a structure attached to the wall. They differ to green facades where plants, generally ivy, adhere to a wall while the roots of the plant are in the ground below.
Green walls offer maximum coverage with thick and abundant foliage. Are you looking to make a statement on the façade of a commercial or residential building? Ever dreamt of completely covering an unappealing and unattractive wall in your home? Green walls could be your answer.
We partner with a number of New Zealand experts in both soil and hydroponic systems. Whatever your requirements, we can assist in designing, fabricating and installing green walls for your commercial or residential property.
What is a green wall?
A green wall is being used as the term for a fully planted and self-sufficient vertical garden. Green walls are attached to external walls or building façades, or an internal wall or divider and were masterminded by French botanist Patric Blac in 1986. Green walls are suspended from and root within a structure attached to the wall, so they differ to green facades where plants, generally ivy, adhere to the actual wall.
If SRS Group is an architectural rigging company, what part do you play in the construction of green walls?
SRS Group provides the design expertise to build and install modular systems for suspending and attaching green walls to building substrates – both indoors and externally – from custom planter boxes to suspension wiring for green wall and full building exteriors.
How are the plants watered to maintain optimal health?
We plan every green wall with an irrigation system that works best for our clients. This may be as simple as a watering can to a self-timed drip irrigation solution, or other fully hydroponic systems. We work alongside clients to find the right set up for their requirements, and can also offer systems to catch and use rainwater collected from the roof.
