Queenstown Catenary (Upper and Lower Beach Street)

Queenstown Alliance Catenary Lighting Project

About The Project

Kāi Tahu representatives (three local iwis combined – Kai Tahu, Kati Mamoe and Waitaha) worked closely with the established design team to integrate the culture and values of the region to the forefront of what we see in the street upgrades.

Gold light poles express the rich mining history of whero (gold) with ‘whero’ clearly visible on select poles. The pole designs also represent travel by waka with a beautiful contrasting Kowhaiwhai design.

SRS was contracted to install catenary stainless steel 316 cables for the lights to hang from. Pole installation by others.
