About the project

Project

SRS was subcontracted by NZ Strong to undertake the design and build contract for the back-of-house (inside) quarters for the Zoo’s Sumatran tigers. Following the provision of the PS1, SRS completed the manufacture and installation of the highly engineered steel framing of wall panels and doors, with louvre covers, light covers, heater covers, feeder drums and complex cable-actuated door system, providing the tigers and carnivore keepers with MPI approved, world-class tiger facilities here in Aotearoa, New Zealand. SRS is proud to have contributed to creating this habitat for the Sumatran tigers – which are part of a zoo’s international breeding and advocacy programme for these Critically Endangered big cats. Sali (pictured) was welcomed in April ‘22 and two young Sumatran tigers from zoos in the United States have just arrived!
